Family challenge

Our first MLC Hotshots Colour Ball Family Challenge was held under bright blue sky’s on Sunday 22nd August. Over 20 families took up the Challenge to take on other families.

We had mum’s playing with their sons, dads and their daughters, dads and sons and even a grand dad playing with his grandson.

Teams had the chance to play with either the “adult” yellow ball or the “green” ball which is 25% less compression, or the “orange” ball which is 50% compression.

It was fantastic to see how the balls and format, coordinated by Luke Cullen, facilitated some awesome rallies that Roger and Rafa would have been proud of.

The commitment and enthusiasm from some families playing in the event was amazing. Some of the families ran the Pub2Pub Fun Run (13km) in the morning and then backed up in the afternoon to play the Family Challenge. Some came dressed in team outfits - skeleton t-shirts were their disguise!! We even saw some secret practice sessions going on between matches behind the Club house!!

It was a great afternoon for everyone involved, with families wanting the event to be extended, they were having so much fun. With everyone looking forward to the next event.

Congratulations to the Seopardi Team who won the “Yellow/Green” division from the “JP” Flannery Team and to Team Lane who defeated the “BL” Flannery team in the Orange division.

Thanks also to Luke for making the day a success and to his parents Liz and Paul for cooking up a storm on the BBQ!

MLC Hotshots Wimbledon Challenge

Players from Max Tennis continue to perform well at the MLC Hotshots Challenges. The latest event was the Wimbledon Challenge held on 18th July at the Wakehurst Tennis Centre in Seaforth.

With players in all age and colour ball categories, it was a great day for everyone involved. Congratulations to Edward Levin, Tm Moor and Hayley Duncan who all played extremely well their first ever tournament.

Our players again reached playoff rounds, with Adam Bond almost equalling his 10’s French Open Title with a narrow loss in the Final of the Singles.

Max Tennis Shines on Centre Court

Max Tennis was again invited to showcase some of our players on Centre Court at the Medibank International 2010.

It was a fantastic day for involved. The players experienced be a professional player for the day.

After playing on Centre Court, they then had a press conference in the Media Centre and was questioned about their performance, they then went to the Players Lounge and were then presented with their Official Tournament Accreditation.

It was an awesome day with many players experiencing what they will strive to do in 10 years or so as a paid professional!!!

Max Tennis players take titles

In the inaugural MLC Hotshots Australian Open challenge held on the 31st January 2010 at the Courtsportz Tennis Centre in Dee Why, Max Tennis players competed in all “Ball divisions”.

Over 120 players competed in the 5 various divisions with fantastic results.
Maiki Sun - Runner up in 8 and Under Red Ball Singles Event
Angelina Teakaaranga - Winner of 10 and Under Orange Ball Singles Event
Angelina Teakaaranga - Winner of 10 and Under Orange Ball Doubles Event
Sosia Teakaaranga - Winner of 10 and Under Orange Ball Doubles Event
Liam Walsh - Winner of 12 and Under Green Ball Singles Event
James Heaton - Semi-Finalist of 12 and Under Green Ball Singles Event

Other notable performances were from Carmen and Christina Gregorian and Gareth Wynne.

“Team Cripps” win Tennis Title

Raymond and Henry Cripps made their coach and parents proud when they won their division in the recent Northern Suburbs Primary Schools Tennis Challenge. Participants from many schools played several shortened doubles matches at nearby Tennis Valley under ideal conditions. Although there were a few tense moments the Cripps duo hit some wonderful shots to come out on top!

Max Tennis Expo at Castle Hill Supa Centre

In a joint promotion with Sport First Castle Hill, Max Tennis set up an interactive demonstration for all of the customers to the Castle Hill Supa Centre on Saturday 20th June.

It was a great opportunity for the community to get a taste of the Max Tennis award winning programs. It was also a great chance for them to see the new Sport First store (formerly Sports Mode)

New Courts for Kenthurst

The bull dozers came in, and the new courts are completed. These are the only courts available to the public of their kind in the Hills area.

This new surface will be the best surface in which to develop high performance players.

The Easter School Holidays saw some our players battle it out at the various Australian Ranking tournaments around the state. Here are some results:

Max Tennis Stars at Medibank International 2009

16 players from Max Tennis were invited to demonstrate their skills on Centre Court at the recent Medibank International. The players contested a number of rallies with the record in a non-sto rally being over 50. They then formed a “guard of honour” and welcomed the world’s best doubles players on court.

Matt Starr, Tennis NSW, said “max Tennis were the most organised group that were invited and that all the players were great on court”

Well done and maybe the more of Max Tennis players will be playing on Centre court in the future!!
